Jewel Yi
Director · Senior Occupational Therapist
Jewel believes parents and caregivers are the experts on their children, and sees herself as a partner in helping them transfer skills learnt during intervention back into everyday routines. Having been a very challenging child herself, she understands that children may struggle with rules or expectations because of sensory distractions, motor difficulties or social skills — and she finds real joy in helping parents and children understand each other, practise skills and build stronger relationships.
She graduated as Valedictorian from Curtin University, Western Australia in 2014, and has worked across public hospitals, private clinics, special-education and mainstream schools, and charities. She is experienced in assessing and treating children with ASD, Global Developmental Delay, ADHD, Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy, and especially loves supporting children and teens with behavioural and mental-health needs. She is currently pursuing certification from the Institute of Human-Animal Connection (University of Denver) and is training her corgi to be a therapy dog.
Jewel is active in the volunteer scene — a winner of the 2020 Presidential Award for Volunteerism and Philanthropy (“Leader of Good”), co-lead of the Covid-19 Migrant Support Coalition, and a consultant for the Inclusive Library project at Woodlands Regional Library.
