Hello! I am Roann, during my summer break, I had the privilege to intern at Little Marvels Therapy and I gained invaluable hands-on experience in the field of psychology. I actively participated in and observed a variety of individual and group therapy sessions, providing me with a nuanced understanding of therapeutic techniques and client interactions. Additionally, I had the opportunity to assist in reviewing and compiling assessment reports for conditions like Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism. Engaging in administrative tasks, I assisted with scheduling, client billing, and resource preparation for therapy sessions, honing my organizational and operational skills. Beyond the traditional scope of a psychology internship, I took on creative responsibilities by updating the clinic’s website design, crafting compelling social media content, and spearheading the organisation and creation of presentation slides for the Animal-assisted Programme – the clinic’s latest service. This internship has not only expanded my practical skills but also deepened my passion for contributing to the well-being of individuals through psychology.

My summer internship with Little Marvels Therapy has been the most enriching and fulfilling 3 months! I had the privelege of observing individual and group therapy sessions, allowing me to see how what I’ve learnt in theory is applied in real-life situations. It also gave me a better understanding of the various intervention strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. Additionally, I gained first-hand insight as to how to interact and communicate with both the client and their family members — crucial skills for a therapist! Beyond observing sessions, I was also exposed to parts of the diagnostic process, from organising notes from parent interviews and observing assessments to helping to score tests and reviewing assessment reports. These allowed me to gain a more in depth understanding of the work of a psychologist. The administrative duties such as responding to enquiries, scheduling appointments and handling invoices also made me realise how important these processes are in ensuring the smooth running of the clinic on a day to day basis. Overall, my internship experience was an invaluable one as it exposed me to multiple facets of what working with children and families in a therapeutic setting is like. I would like to thank the Little Marvels team for always patiently answering my questions and explaining things to me. I enjoy the discussions we share to expand my knowledge and help me gain a better understanding of each client’s therapy goals. Their passion shines through the meaningful work they do and is a source of inspiration, motivating me to strive to be like them one day! I will always be grateful for the opportunities Little Marvels has given me!

My internship at Little Marvels has been both rewarding and eye-opening! I wanted to explore different therapeutic services, and I've gained many invaluable insights throughout my time here. The team is incredibly welcoming and patient, which makes the clinic a very collaborative and fun environment! Throughout my time, I was allowed to observe sessions and helped to score various assessments. This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of how children are diagnosed. Discussing the results with the psychologist afterward provided further insight on how the results aligned with each child's behaviour and needs. I also learnt how occupational therapists make sessions more engaging for the clients as they develop their motor skills in a fun environment! The therapists took the time to explain each case, helping me grasp the children's specific needs and goals. Additionally, I had the chance to interact directly with the children, which was both enlightening and fulfilling. Creating age-appropriate resources for the speech therapy clients was a good experience, as it gave me deeper insights into how cognitive and speech development varies across different age groups. Overall, my time at Little Marvels has been really inspiring, and I am grateful for all the opportunities and experiences at Little Marvels!

My internship at Little Marvels during my summer break was an enriching experience! I gained insight into the allied health sector by observing and participating in both individual therapy and social group sessions. I was able to learn more about the meaningful impact of different types of therapies on the lives of the children we see. I’m grateful that the team was also very willing to patiently answer and clarify any doubts and queries I have about therapeutic methods used or field of work. Being part of a multidisciplinary team allowed me to observe the benefits of collaboration between different therapists towards the wellbeing of the children as well. Furthermore, I also learned about various assessments used and supported administrative tasks and resource creation. Overall, this experience broadened my perspective on the allied health sector and inspired me to pursue a similar path in the future. I’m very thankful for the wonderful guidance and support from the therapists during my time at Little Marvels!
